After completing a sailing trip, your skipper will of course issue you with a nautical miles confirmation. It is not only a nice souvenir of the sailing trip, but also serves as proof of the nautical miles sailed for admission to a sailing licence examination. According to German sailing licence law, the following nautical miles have to be logged, for example:

  • for the SKS: proof of 300 nautical miles sailed on yachts in coastal waters
  • for the SSS: proof of at least 1000 nautical miles sailed on yachts in coastal waters (after obtaining the SBF-See) as watch leader or his representative
  • for the SHS: proof of at least 1000 nautical miles sailed on yachts in coastal waters (after obtaining the SBF-See licence) as watch leader

More information on the sport boat licences is available, for example, from the Deutschen Segler Verband.
